When Yah says he is a zealous god - iniquities and kindness makes me think of how later he says he lays out blessings and curses. If you choose to live by his ways, there are blessings. Those outside of his ways end up leading to curses, some being natural consequences.
Isa 61:6-10
Heb 12:18-29
The children of Israel were invited to come after the trumpet sounded, but they were so fearful they didn't come. "See that you don't refuse him who speaks ... for they refused him ... "
