James 4 James-04

Notice what it says ... The Set-Apart Breath of YHWH (aka Holy Spirit) is INSIDE but there is a war INSIDE. The Holy Spirit WANTS you to listen, yearns for it. Just as YHWH yearned for the love of Israel in the Old Testament. Yah was a jealous god, and now His Set Apart Spirit is a jealous spirit because we follow our OWN pleasures.

The Devil - the slander - in this case is our own pleasures, our own desires.

Don't speak against one another - take a stand, bear record against: Deut-19#v15-19 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin that he sins. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established. Matt-18#v15-20.

Speak against the law ... Slandering or condemning a brother violates this command → you speak against the law by disobeying it. Lev-19#v16 The law = Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (James 2:8; Leviticus 19:18).

Judge the law ... By condemning your brother, you sit in judgment over him as if you are above the law. This usurps God’s role as the only Lawgiver and Judge (James 4:12: “There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?”). You judge the law by acting as if it’s invalid or insufficient — you set yourself above it.

Not a doer… but a judge” Doer = one who obeys the law (James 1:22–25). Judge = one who critiques or overrides the law. You cannot obey a law you’ve dethroned.
